Games for Idle Hands
Last year I made some scavenger hunts & crossword puzzles to have on hand for students who finished early in class. It went so well, this year I’ve decided I need plenty more to keep those quick deciders busy during checkout time.
Since I spent some rainy hours making these I figured it would be worthwhile sharing them. If you want to make your own, I recommend puzzlemaker.discoveryeducation.com. Feel free to adopt, copy or use these as is at your peril. If you find any mistakes or typos, or would like to share your puzzles with me, please leave a comment.
I’ll add more as I get them together.
For Vermonters: Here’s a zip file of DCF crossword puzzles & a word search and here’s a zip of a few Red Clover puzzles.
And for everyone else, here are some mystery author puzzles (title & name scrambles) and a genre puzzle, all zipped up for your downloading pleasure.
Wow! These are great. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you, Pamela! I also clicked on the DCF Award link and looked at a few comments (great way for us to share ideas on the books, when we have time!) and discovered that amazing website that a reader had found on the inventions of hugo cabret site (located in the Intelligentideas comment). Students will love playing with some of the automaton design ideas, lots of learning, too, so much more to enjoy…. !

You are so considerate to share your creations with the rest of the library world. Kids in Moretown, VT will be having a crack at these … many thanks!
